Dynamic wrinkles
Those that only appear when you move your brows. They respond very well to neuromodulators, and treating them early helps stop them becoming etched into the skin.
Horizontal forehead lines are among the first wrinkles to appear and among those that age your expression most. We soften them with a medical treatment that respects the movement of your eyebrows, so your face still looks like you.

The forehead has a single large muscle, the frontalis, whose job is to raise the eyebrows. Every time you look surprised, speak with emphasis or open your eyes wide, that muscle contracts and folds the skin into horizontal lines. At first they only show when you move, but over the years, with collagen loss and sun exposure, those lines stay etched even when your face is relaxed.
There is an important detail many people are unaware of: in some faces the frontalis overworks to compensate for slightly hooded eyelids or low-set brows. That is why the forehead is not treated the same way in everyone. If this muscle is relaxed without taking its role into account, the brows can drop and the eyes look heavier.
The treatment of choice for dynamic forehead wrinkles is neuromodulators, medicines that temporarily and locally relax the muscle’s contraction. The skin stops folding so strongly, the lines soften and, over time, wrinkles that were already etched look less deep.
At Centro Ubud the treatment is performed by a doctor. First they study how you move your forehead, the position of your brows and the height of your eyelids, and from there decide the injection points and dose, which are usually more conservative on the forehead than in other areas to keep a natural expression.
It is not a good idea if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a neuromuscular condition or an active infection in the area. We check all of this during your consultation.

Those already visible at rest. Neuromodulators soften them, but it is sometimes worth combining with treatments that improve skin quality to fill in that fine crease.

The forehead is very often treated at the same time as the frown lines. Balancing both muscles stops the brows from lifting or dropping unnaturally.
Frown lines
We look at how your brows sit and whether your forehead is compensating for a heavy eyelid. That determines how much to relax and where, so your eyes don’t lose their brightness.

A short medical procedure, with a follow-up check, designed to soften lines without blocking your expression.
The doctor asks you to raise your brows, frown and smile to see which muscle fibres work hardest and how your brows and eyelids behave.
Small amounts are applied at several points on the forehead using very fine needles. The application takes a few minutes and needs no anaesthetic.
It starts to show within a few days and reaches its peak at around two weeks. At the follow-up we check symmetry and adjust if needed.
If the skin on your forehead is thin, dehydrated or sun-damaged, we can combine with skinbooster or mesotherapy to improve the texture of the deeper creases.
