How much hair you feel you have depends on two things: how many hairs there are per square centimetre and how thick each one is. A small drop in the thickness of each hair translates into a very visible loss of volume, even if the number of hairs has barely changed.
Hair redensification is a medical protocol designed for exactly that problem: fine hair with no body, which lets the scalp show through or goes flat easily. It aims to stimulate the follicles to produce thicker hair and, where possible, to reactivate follicles that had gone dormant.
It is not a cosmetic treatment based on shampoos or ampoules. At Centro Ubud it is carried out by a doctor after assessing the scalp and finding out why the hair has become finer: early androgenetic alopecia, hormonal changes, deficiencies, stress or simply the ageing of the follicle. Depending on the cause, we combine PRP, mesotherapy and microneedling, with medical treatment if indicated.
It is important to know what to expect. Redensification improves thickness and the look of your hair when there are still active follicles, but it does not grow hair where there are none left. And if the cause of the thinning is still present, it is best to treat it at the same time so the result lasts.

Questions about hair redensification
What is the difference between redensification and alopecia treatment?
Redensification focuses on restoring thickness and volume to existing hair. Alopecia treatment also aims to slow a progressive condition. They often overlap: many alopecia plans include redensification sessions.
How many redensification sessions will I need?
There is usually an initial phase of several sessions a few weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions. We adjust the number according to how you respond.
When will my hair look thicker?
Because hair grows slowly, the change in thickness becomes noticeable from three to six months. We check it with photographs and trichoscopy.
Does it hurt?
You will feel pricks or a sensation of pressure, which most people find tolerable. We take steps to reduce discomfort.
Can I wash my hair afterwards?
We recommend waiting until the next day and avoiding hair dye, swimming pools, saunas or intense exercise for one or two days. We give you written aftercare instructions.
Does it work if I have a completely bald area?
No. Redensification works on living follicles. If an area no longer has follicles, we will explain what options exist.
