What is Dermapen and how does it work?
Dermapen is a microneedling device: a tip with microneedles that oscillate at high speed and create thousands of microchannels in the skin. The depth is adjusted according to the area and the goal, from very superficial to boost radiance to deeper to treat scars.
These controlled micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural repair process: a cascade of growth factors is released and collagen and elastin production is stimulated. Over the sessions, the skin becomes firmer, smoother and more even.
In addition, the microchannels allow the active ingredients applied during the session, such as hyaluronic acid, vitamins or depigmenting agents, to penetrate much better than if they were only applied as a cream. What a Dermapen session involves
An in-clinic treatment with topical anaesthetic and a recovery of one to a few days depending on the depth. Always with sterile, single-use material.

After
Redness like after a day in the sun

Questions about Dermapen
How many Dermapen sessions will I need?
It depends on the goal. For radiance and texture a short course is usually enough; acne scars need more sessions. They are spaced about four weeks apart to give the skin time to regenerate. Afterwards, one or two sessions a year can help maintain the results.
Does Dermapen hurt?
Topical anaesthetic is applied beforehand, so you mainly feel vibration and mild discomfort, a little more in areas such as the forehead or next to the nose. The session can be paused if you need it and the depth is adapted for each area.
When will I see results?
The skin looks brighter within a few days. The improvement in texture and scars is gradual, because it depends on the new collagen that forms over the following weeks.
What is the difference between Dermapen and microneedling?
Microneedling is the name of the technique; Dermapen is a specific device for performing it, with oscillating needles and adjustable depth, allowing a more precise and even treatment than rollers.
Can I carry on as normal afterwards?
Yes. For the first 24-48 hours it is best to avoid make-up, direct sun, swimming pools, saunas and intense exercise, and to use only the products we recommend.
Who should not have Dermapen?
It is not performed with active inflammatory acne, cold sores, infections or wounds in the area, during pregnancy, with a tendency to keloid scarring or if you have recently taken isotretinoin. We check this at the consultation.
