Décolletage pigmentation in Torremolinos

Your décolletage gets years of sun, almost always without the same protection as your face. That is why it builds up dark spots, uneven tone and a rough texture. We treat it with a medical plan that evens out skin tone and protects the skin.

Décolletage and sun

Why dark spots appear on the décolletage

The skin on the décolletage is thin, has few sebaceous glands and, on the Costa del Sol, is exposed to the sun for much of the year: at the beach, on the terrace, in open-necked tops. Many people protect their face with sunscreen every day but forget their décolletage. Over the years, the accumulated damage shows up as brown spots, a mottled tone, fine wrinkles and a rougher texture.

The most common spots in this area are solar lentigines, small, well-defined brown marks. A reddish-brown pattern with thin skin, typical of photoageing of the neck and décolletage, is also common, as are spots caused by hormonal changes. Each one responds differently, which is why we never treat without assessing first.

At Centro Ubud the treatment is prescribed and performed by a doctor, who examines the lesions before treating. Any spot or mole that has changed in size, colour or shape, that bleeds or has irregular edges is not treated for cosmetic purposes: it is referred for dermatological assessment.

This treatment is for you if…

  • You have brown sun spots on your décolletage.
  • The tone of your décolletage looks mottled or different from your face.
  • The skin in the area feels rough or has fine wrinkles.
  • You want to wear low necklines without covering up with make-up.
  • You can commit to using sun protection on the area every day.

If the spots come with redness and small visible veins, we assess that too, as it needs a different approach. The best time to start is from autumn to spring, when sun exposure is lower and the skin tolerates peels better.

Treatments

What the treatment involves

A phased plan combining in-clinic sessions and at-home care.

1. Consultation

Assessing the spots

The doctor reviews the type of spot, your skin type and your history, and rules out any lesions that need investigating before treatment.

2. Preparation

At-home routine beforehand

A few weeks of depigmenting products and sunscreen prepare the skin and reduce the risk of a spot darkening after the peel.

3. In clinic

Peel or Dermapen sessions

Spaced-out sessions, with mild peeling over the following days. They are adapted to the sensitivity of the décolletage, which is more delicate than the face.

See Dermapen
4. Maintenance

Sun protection

Without daily sun protection, the spots come back. We show you how to protect your décolletage and when to have maintenance sessions.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about décolletage pigmentation

Can dark spots on the décolletage be removed?
Superficial sun spots usually lighten noticeably. Some, especially hormonal ones or those linked to extensive sun damage, improve but may need maintenance. We tell you what to expect during your consultation.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on the type and number of spots. A course of several sessions a few weeks apart is usual, together with the at-home routine.
Does a peel on the décolletage hurt?
You will feel itching or warmth for a few minutes. Afterwards the skin may be red and peel for a few days, which is expected and shows that it is renewing.
Can I have treatment in summer?
Peels are not advisable with intense sun exposure, as this increases the risk of new spots. In summer we focus on protecting and preparing the skin.
What is the difference between a sun spot and a mole?
A solar lentigo is a flat, even mark caused by the sun. A mole is a cluster of pigmented cells that may be flat or raised. Any lesion that changes, itches or bleeds should be checked by a dermatologist.
When can the treatment not be done?
We do not perform it during pregnancy or breastfeeding with certain active ingredients, on tanned or irritated skin, with wounds or infections in the area, or on undiagnosed lesions.
Which sunscreen should I use on my décolletage?
A broad-spectrum, high-factor one, applied every morning even when it is cloudy and reapplied if you are outdoors. Clothing and avoiding the midday hours also protect you.
How much does décolletage pigmentation treatment cost in Torremolinos?
It depends on the type of spots and the number of sessions. At your free consultation we give you a fixed, no-obligation quote.
