Receding temples
The hairline moving back at the temples is often the first sign. We distinguish between a normal maturing hairline and the start of alopecia.
See receding hairline treatmentIf your temples are receding or your crown is starting to thin, it pays to act early: the hair you keep is far easier to maintain than the hair you try to win back.

Male pattern baldness is the form androgenetic alopecia takes in men. It can start in your twenties or even earlier, and it usually follows a fairly predictable course: receding temples, thinning at the crown and, over time, the two areas joining up.
Many men wait until the loss is obvious before seeking advice. The problem is that, by then, some of the follicles have miniaturised so much that they are hard to reactivate. That is why we stress early detection: while there is still hair, even if it is finer, medical treatment has much more to work with.
At Centro Ubud we assess where you are on the Hamilton-Norwood scale, how your case is progressing and what you hope to achieve. With that information, the doctor designs a realistic plan that combines a foundation treatment with in-clinic procedures.
We also talk about expectations. The main aim of medical treatment for male pattern baldness is stabilisation: that in a few years’ time you have the same amount of hair as today, or more. In many men thickness and density also improve, but the result depends on the starting point, consistency and how each person responds.
If you already have a transplant or are considering one, medical treatment helps protect the native hair around it.
