What are collagen biostimulators?
Collagen is the protein that gives skin its structure and firmness. From the age of 25-30 we make less and less of it, and during menopause that loss speeds up. The result is thinner skin with less support, which starts to sag on the cheeks, jawline and neck.
Biostimulators are injectable substances, such as calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid, that do not work by filling but by stimulating fibroblasts, the cells in the dermis that make collagen and elastin. Over the following weeks the skin produces new collagen and gains density, firmness and elasticity.
That is why the result is not immediate: it builds over several weeks or months and looks very natural, because the tissue that improves is your own. It does not change your features; it shows as firmer skin and a better-looking face.

After the session the area may feel slightly swollen or tender for a few days. It is best to avoid intense exercise, strong heat and pressure on the face for the first few hours, and to follow the massage guidelines if the doctor gives them. Questions about collagen biostimulators
When will I see the results of biostimulators?
They are not immediate. New collagen forms little by little and the improvement is usually noticeable over the weeks and months following treatment.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on the degree of sagging and the product. Usually one or more sessions a few weeks apart are planned, followed by maintenance. We confirm it at your consultation.
How long does the effect last?
The collagen you produce is your own, so the effect is usually long-lasting, although ageing continues. Regular maintenance helps preserve it.
Does it hurt? Is there any recovery time?
Anaesthetic is used and the discomfort is usually mild. There may be swelling, tenderness or the odd bruise for a few days. Depending on the product, you may be asked to massage the area at home for a while.
What is the difference between biostimulators and hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid filler adds immediate volume to a specific point. Biostimulators don’t fill: they make your skin produce collagen and gradually improve its firmness.
How are they different from thread lifts?
Threads give a more immediate repositioning effect as well as stimulating collagen. Biostimulators mainly work on skin quality and firmness. Sometimes they are combined.
From what age does it make sense?
