How biostimulators work in the buttocks
Collagen biostimulators are resorbable injectable substances, such as calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid, which are placed in the deep dermis or subcutaneous tissue. Once there, they trigger a controlled response in which fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen, are activated and produce new fibres around the product.
Over the following weeks the product is gradually reabsorbed and what remains is your own tissue: thicker, firmer skin with better support. In the buttocks this means less laxity, better texture and, depending on how it is distributed, a more defined shape or a little more projection.
Precisely because the effect depends on your own collagen, this is not a treatment with instant results. It is a biological process that takes time and often more than one session. Medical consultation

Session
Application with a cannula
After disinfecting the area, the product is applied in a fan pattern with a cannula or fine needle. The session lasts around an hour and you can return to your daily activities.
After
Aftercare at home
With some products, massaging the area is recommended for the first few days. Avoid intense exercise, saunas and pressure on the area for a few days.

What is the difference between biostimulators and hyaluronic acid in the buttocks?
Hyaluronic acid adds volume immediately because it takes up space. Biostimulators work by stimulating collagen: the effect is slower, but it also improves skin quality and firmness. In the buttocks we usually prioritise biostimulation.
How many biostimulator sessions do I need on my buttocks?
It depends on the surface area, your initial degree of laxity and the result you are after. Usually more than one session is needed, several weeks apart. We give you an approximate plan during your consultation.
When will I see results?
Right after treatment there is a filling effect from the product itself and from swelling, which fades within days. The real result, from new collagen, appears gradually over several months.
Does it hurt? What side effects can it have?
Local anaesthetic is used at the entry points along with a cannula, so discomfort is mild. There may be swelling, tenderness or bruising for a few days. Uncommonly, small nodules may appear; that is why it is important for a doctor to perform it and to follow the aftercare guidelines.
How long does the effect last?
The collagen produced lasts a good while, but natural ageing continues. How long it lasts depends on your age, metabolism and habits, and it can be extended with maintenance sessions.
Who cannot have biostimulators?
They are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with infection or inflammation in the area, or with certain active autoimmune diseases or clotting disorders. Nor if there are previous permanent fillers in the buttocks that have not been assessed.
Can it be combined with other treatments?
Yes. They are often combined with INDIBA radiofrequency for firmness, with treatments for cellulite or stubborn fat on the flanks and saddlebags, and with a buttock exercise programme. We schedule everything so the treatments do not interfere with each other.
