When home physiotherapy makes sense

Home physiotherapy is an option when getting to the clinic is a disproportionate effort: older people, reduced mobility, recent recovery from an operation or neurological conditions. A registered physiotherapist travels to your home in Torremolinos, La Carihuela, Benalmádena and nearby areas.

Treating you at home has a real advantage: we work in the environment where you move every day. We practise getting up from a chair or bed, climbing steps, walking along your hallway or moving around the bathroom, and we adapt exercises to the space and the objects available. We can also advise on simple changes to reduce the risk of falls.

Common cases include recovery after a knee or hip replacement, after a fracture or a hospital stay, loss of strength and balance with age, chronic pain that limits going out and basic neurological rehabilitation, such as the after-effects of a stroke, always coordinated with your doctor or neurologist. Some problems need a highly specialised team and, if so, we will tell you clearly.

The mainstay of treatment is a personalised exercise programme, which we combine with manual therapy, mobilisations, gait retraining and education for you and your carers. Adapted exercise has been shown to reduce falls and improve independence in older people, although results depend on consistency and on each individual situation.

Some techniques cannot be taken to your home: musculoskeletal ultrasound, shockwave therapy or INDIBA need clinic equipment. If your case needs them, we combine them with visits to the clinic in La Carihuela when you are able to come. If warning signs appear (fever, chest pain, swelling in one leg, sudden confusion, abrupt loss of strength), we ask for immediate medical attention.

This treatment is for you if…

  • You are older and afraid of falling.
  • You are recovering from surgery or a hospital stay.
  • You have reduced mobility or rely on aids to get out.
  • You need supervised exercise without having to travel.

For chest pain, shortness of breath, painful swelling in one leg or sudden loss of strength, call emergency services (112); these are not cases for physiotherapy.

Questions about home physiotherapy

Which areas do you cover?
We cover Torremolinos, La Carihuela, Montemar, Benalmádena and nearby areas. Send us your address via WhatsApp and we will tell you about availability.
Do I need a doctor’s prescription?
It is not compulsory. If you have a discharge report, a recent operation or underlying conditions, share them so we can adapt the treatment better.
How long does each session last?
Usually between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the situation and the person’s tolerance.
What equipment do I need at home?
Almost nothing: a stable chair and space to move. If anything is needed (resistance bands, light weights), we will let you know.
Can rehabilitation after a joint replacement be done at home?
Yes, in many cases, always following your orthopaedic surgeon’s instructions. If you need clinic equipment, we combine the two.
Do you provide neurological physiotherapy?
We provide basic rehabilitation and adapted exercise for people with neurological after-effects, coordinated with the medical team. Cases that need a specialist service are referred on.
How much does home physiotherapy cost in Torremolinos?
It depends on the area, the frequency and the plan recommended. We give you a fixed, no-obligation quote at the free consultation.
Where are you and how do I book?
We are at Calle Arenas, 12, in La Carihuela (Torremolinos, Málaga). Appointments are made only via WhatsApp, and we see patients from Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Málaga and the surrounding area.
