Tear trough filler in Torremolinos

When your dark circles are actually a hollow under the eye, the shadow it casts makes you look permanently tired. With a small, well-placed amount of hyaluronic acid, the doctor softens that groove for a more rested look.

Tear trough

What is tear trough filler?

Not all dark circles are the same. Some are about colour, due to pigment or blood vessels showing through thin skin. Others are about volume: with age, or because of genetics, the area under the eye loses fat and support and a hollow forms, the tear trough, which creates a crescent-shaped shadow.

Tear trough filler is designed for this second type. It involves placing a small amount of hyaluronic acid, with a texture specific to the area, in the deep layer under the eye. This softens the transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek, much of the shadow disappears and your eyes look fresher.

It is a treatment that demands precision. The eyelid skin is very thin, the area has many blood vessels and it is prone to retaining fluid, so we work with little product and almost always with a cannula. More is not better: too much can show as a bulge or a bluish tint.

That is why, at Centro Ubud, tear trough filler is performed by a doctor and the key lies in the prior assessment: deciding honestly whether your dark circles are the kind that improve with filler or whether you need a different treatment.

This treatment is for you if…

  • You have a visible hollow under your eyes that casts a shadow.
  • You look tired even when you’ve slept well.
  • When you lift your cheek slightly with a finger, the dark circle improves a lot.
  • The skin of your lower eyelid is of reasonable thickness.
  • You don’t have prominent bags or frequent morning puffiness.

You are not a good candidate if you have prominent fat bags, regular fluid retention, very thin and lax skin or dark circles that are only about colour. In those cases we suggest other options or, if needed, a surgical assessment.

Hollow under-eyes

A marked tear trough that creates a shadow. This is the case that responds best to hyaluronic acid filler.

Thin-skin dark circles

When dark circles are due to translucent skin, a regenerative treatment such as polynucleotides usually works better.

Bags

If there is a fat bag or fluid retention, filler can make it worse. We assess what can be improved without surgery.

Cheek and midface

Sometimes the dark circle stands out because the cheek has lost support. Treating the cheekbone can indirectly improve the under-eye area.

Treatments

What tear trough filler involves

A delicate medical procedure, with little product and a lot of precision.

Assessment

Diagnosing your dark circles

Using different lighting and positions, the doctor examines whether your dark circles are due to volume, colour, bags or a mix, and whether you are a candidate.

Session

Fine cannula

After local anaesthetic, a cannula is inserted through a single entry point and the hyaluronic acid is placed in the deep layer. It takes around thirty minutes.

Result

Review and fine-tuning

The improvement shows from day one, although swelling takes a few days to settle. At the follow-up we assess whether a small touch-up is needed.

Options

A complete under-eye plan

If your dark circles combine several factors, filler, skin regeneration and pigmentation treatments can be combined.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about tear trough filler

How long does tear trough filler last?
It is an area with little movement, so the hyaluronic acid usually lasts quite a long time, although it varies from person to person and with the product. We’ll tell you when to come back for a check.
Does it hurt?
Local anaesthetic and a cannula are used, which reduces needle pricks. Most people describe it as a feeling of pressure rather than pain.
What is the recovery like?
There may be mild swelling and sometimes a bruise for a few days. It is best to avoid intense exercise, heat and alcohol for the first 24-48 hours and to sleep with your head slightly raised.
How do I know if I’m a candidate for tear trough filler?
The doctor decides at your consultation. In general, the best candidate has a hollow groove without prominent bags or fluid retention, and skin of reasonable thickness.
What is the difference between tear trough filler and dark circle treatment?
Filler is a specific technique for hollow under-eyes. Dark circle treatment is the overall approach, which may include filler, skin regeneration or pigmentation treatment depending on the cause.
Can it be reversed if I don’t like it?
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with a specific enzyme if necessary, which is also assessed and carried out by the doctor.
Could it look puffy or bluish?
That is a risk if too much product is used or it is placed too superficially. That is why we work with a small amount, in the deep layer and with a cannula.
How much does tear trough filler cost in Torremolinos?
It depends on the amount of product needed and whether it is combined with other treatments. At your free consultation we give you a fixed quote.
